A: “There’s a deep-rooted passion for sports in Toledo, and it carries through every event hosted here. From youth and high school sports to the Toledo Mud Hens, Toledo Walleye, and University of Toledo athletics, there is tremendous local support for sports in the area. That same enthusiasm extends beyond the stands, shaping how events are planned, supported, and experienced across the city.”
Q: What recent event really showcased what Toledo can do in the sports sector?
A: “Hosting the inaugural Garmin Marathon was a big moment for Toledo. Being chosen as the launch city for a global brand like Garmin really says a lot about what we can offer. The event brought together runners of all levels and showcased our community, our riverfront, and our ability to deliver a top-tier race experience. It was truly a collaborative effort, with buy-in from local government, Run Toledo’s team, and Garmin It was a great example of how Toledo can step up and host something special.”
Q: What does the future look like for sporting events in Toledo?
A: “We’re looking to build on the momentum of the upcoming USGA golf events and continue to bring the best in regional and national events to the Glass City. With the continued resurgence of downtown and the riverfront, Toledo is positioned as not only a destination capable of hosting great events, but as a destination where visitors will want to stay and explore.”
