Veterans Matter Walk to End Veteran Homelessness

Veterans Matter Walk to End Veteran Homelessness

Civic Center Mall
750 Jackson St.
Toledo, OH 43604

Friday, October 18, 2019 | 6 - 9 p.m.

Join Veterans Matter and 1Matters on Friday October 18th in kicking off the 29th Annual Tent City weekend with a 1 mile Walk to End Veteran Homelessness, intended to bring awareness to Veteran homelessness. Proceeds from the walk will help Veterans Matter house more veterans in our community, state and across the nation.

Our mission is simple: House as many Veterans as we can, as fast as we can. With 3,000 Veterans already housed nationally, we still have 40,000 more to go. Your walk registration fee goes directly to those in need. It takes $750 on average for us to house a Veteran in a new place they can call home. EVERY dollar we deploy results in another veteran set up in a long-term housing program with a 91% success rate keeping them there.

Our goal is to rally those who care about homeless Veterans as much as we do to get them off the streets and into their own “home for the brave, in the land of the free”. If you are one of us, please come and walk with us on October 18th. #Mission1000More

Cost of registration (includes event t-shirt):
Students - $15; Veterans - $20; General Public - $25

Organization Summary
Veterans Matter was founded in Toledo, Ohio to house 35 local veterans. Urged on by musicians/celebrities Dusty Hill, John Mellencamp and Mitch Albom to help them house veterans in their home states, founder Ken Leslie created an efficient on-line cloud-based system to help them accomplish this goal.

This system, in partnership with the VA, gives us unheard of efficiencies: Veterans Matter has a 100% success rate housing veterans in a long-term VA program that has a 91% success rate keeping them there!
