This class will focus on hot shop and professional practices to help prepare students for blowing glass in a professional studio. We will focus on setting up for success by matching drawings in the sense of form through specifications and color application. With deliberate preparation, planning, and practice students will learn to make quality pieces efficiently. Students will be encouraged to work from drawings and consider processes which best suit each object. In addition to the technical aspect of glass fabrication, the class will provide insight into working with clients. By considering students strengths, we will discuss which projects to pursue and how to manage expectations, while informing the clients in the process. With these professional aspects in mind, we will also work on how to compromise an attainable design with a fair budget for the craftsperson and the consumer.
