Starting with basic borosilicate flameworking techniques, this class will focus on building structures in solid glass (with some forays into hollow objects). Using a kiln shelf and working directly from scale drawings, students can expect to learn the fundamentals of borosilicate flameworking as well as techniques more specific to this method of building. Bring grand ideas, a pencil, a drawing compass, and expect to learn through demos, illustrated handouts, slides shows, and hands on experience.

MASTER CLASS IN GLASS
Beginning in May and continuing through August, these one-week master classes will offer instruction in a variety of glass techniques including glassblowing, flameworking, glass fusing, cutting and hot sculpting. Each teaching artist is internationally recognized and brings with them a set of highly specific and refined skill sets unique to each studio in the Glass Pavilion. The classes will run one week, Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. with lunch provided. Each week-long class will cost $950 for Museum members and $1,000 for non-members. Many of the classes are open to artists of all skill levels but some will require intermediate or advanced experience. Each class will be limited to four students and scholarships are available. Participants must be 18 years of age or older. As travel and gathering guidelines are subject to change in accordance with COVID 19 protocol, Master Class may be affected.
