Explore the potential of working with hot glass as a sculptural medium. This class will focus on special techniques and approaches to solid and blown sculpting that can take your sculpture to the next level by demonstrating the range and freedom the material has and showing its true potential. We will bring sculptures to life using a variety of torches and techniques, which includes solid and inside sculpting, bit building, color application, garage use, and most importantly teamwork. Problem solving will be emphasized, and you are encouraged to bring in images of forms you are interested in recreating.

MASTER CLASS IN GLASS
Beginning in May and continuing through August, these one-week master classes will offer instruction in a variety of glass techniques including glassblowing, flameworking, glass fusing, cutting and hot sculpting. Each teaching artist is internationally recognized and brings with them a set of highly specific and refined skill sets unique to each studio in the Glass Pavilion. The classes will run one week, Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. with lunch provided. Each week-long class will cost $950 for Museum members and $1,000 for non-members. Many of the classes are open to artists of all skill levels but some will require intermediate or advanced experience. Each class will be limited to four students and scholarships are available. Participants must be 18 years of age or older. As travel and gathering guidelines are subject to change in accordance with COVID 19 protocol, Master Class may be affected.
