Film with Live Music: Marc Ribot and Anthony Coleman, "Aelita Queen of Mars" (1924, 90 minutes)
Said to be the first full-length science fiction movie ever made, this influential film about space travel by the Soviet filmmaker Yakov Protazanov is presented with a live score composed and performed by acclaimed avant-guitarist Marc Ribot and New York-based keyboardist Anthony Coleman. Presented as part of The Sound of Silents, the museums silent movie series that features performances on the its historic 1927 Skinner organ and other instruments.
