Join National Museum of the Great Lakes for the second presentation of their 2021 fall lecture series. Offered as a hybrid event, participants can choose when registering to take part in person at the museum or online via Zoom.
Between October 18-19, 1764 a great storm blew up and destroyed almost half of a fleet of bateau and canoes being led by Col. John Bradstreet near the Rocky River on the south shore of Lake Erie. How could this happen? How did Bradstreet come to be near Rocky River? What transpired after the disaster? Follow along as we explore the history and meaning behind our new micro-exhibit—Bradstreet’s Disaster. Together we’ll discuss the two collections of artifacts recently donated to NMGL and now on display, their discoveries, how they relate to Col. Bradstreet’s fleet, and the relationship between museum and artifact hunter.
This lecture and is free, but registration is required. Donations are always happily accepted.
