Star Struck: Star Party and Perseid Meteor Shower
Blue Creek Metropark
7035 Providence Street
Friday, August 12, 2022 | 9 p.m. - Midnight
No Reservations Required, Free
Meteors, telescopes, and night photography... this star party has it all! Escape from the light pollution of the big city and experience the wonder of dark, starry night skies. Join amateur astronomers from the Toledo Astronomical Association and peer through a telescope to get up close to distant galaxies, nebulas, and other astronomy wonders, or kick back and watch for shooting stars. Night photography experts will be on-hand to coach novice photographers.
No registration necessary; this is an open-house style event, where participants may come and go at any time during the program time frame. Bring a lawn chair or blankets and prepare to sit back and enjoy the show. This year, a bright gibbous moon will drown out many of the faint meteors.
The park is open between 9:00 pm and 11:59 pm, no registration required. There is an optional free naturalist-led informational program on meteors from 10 to 10:30 p.m. meeting near the sledding hill. A naturalist will be on-site to answer questions for the entire viewing session. This program location is accessible.
