National Museum of the Great Lakes
1701 Front St
Toledo, OH 43605

Wednesday, October 26, 2022 | 7 - 8:30 p.m.

Join Author Wendy Kolie as she wades into the deadly undercurrent lurking beneath Lake Erie’s surface in the second presentation of the National Museum of the Great Lakes’ 2022 Fall Lecture Series.

ABOUT THE LECTURE: Lake Erie is known for its beauty and tranquility, but a dark, deadly undercurrent lurks beneath its surface. Bordering four states and two countries, the inland ocean offers the perfect getaway for criminals of all kinds. From bandits and con artists to pirates and murderers—author Wendy Koile will join us to bring alive stories in history about robbers who held up the Ashtabula National Marine Bank, law-evading pirates like Joseph Kerwin, a murderer who quietly slipped away on a luxury cruise ship, and the corpse found floating in near a lightkeepers post. Together we will wade into the depths of this great but deadly lake.

Join us for the second presentation of our 2022 fall lecture series. Offered as a hybrid event, participants can choose when registering to take part in person at the museum or online via Zoom with an option to purchase the book for either participation preference.

ABOUT THE PRESENTER: Wendy Koile is the Director of Teaching and Learning and a part-time English instructor at Central Ohio Technical College. She holds a master’s in teaching, as well as a newly earned master’s in the Art of English.
