ADDITIONAL DETAILS:
National Museum of the Great Lakes:
-STEAM Scavenger Hunt: Learn about the important role of science and technology in the history of the Great Lakes with our STEAM Scavenger Hunt by exploring our museum exhibits, along with the Col. James M. Schoonmaker Museum Ship and Museum Tug Ohio. Along the way, learn about ship building techniques and get inspiration to build your own craft in our Recycled Regatta. PLUS, visit NMGL’s temporary exhibit, Two Men and a Boat, to learn more about small boat building.
-Recycled Regatta: Put your boat building skills to the test by building a mini craft to race on our test course. Use recycled materials and trial and error to build your best boat, while helping to recycle items that might otherwise become marine debris in our Great Lakes.
Imagination Station:
-Create and Imagine Using Re-purposed Materials: Upcycle fabric to create your own bag or purse in our Tinkering Space, then get creative and design your own Dinosaur using repurposed materials in Think Tank. PLUS, visit Imagination Station’s traveling exhibit, Ultimate Dinosaurs, before you build to draw inspiration. (Please note Ultimate Dinosaurs is free for Imagination Station members and $5 for non-members.)
-Glass Crusher Demonstration: Learn how glass can be downcycled and turned into sand and see all the ways you can reduce your impact on the planet during hands-on demonstrations of the glass crusher.
