“We Are the Troopers”

The Toledo Lucas County Public Library invites the community to celebrate Women’s History Month with a free screening of We Are the Troopers, followed by a discussion with former players from the Toledo Troopers.

This inspiring documentary shares the story of the Toledo Troopers, one of the most successful teams in professional football history. After the film, several Troopers will take part in a short panel discussion, offering personal insight into the team’s legacy and its impact on women’s sports and Toledo history.

The Troopers played their first professional women’s football game in 1971 and won seven world championships between 1971 and 1979. In 1983, they were recognized as the winningest team in professional football history at the Pro Football Hall of Fame. In 2014, they became the first team inducted into the Women’s Football Foundation Hall of Fame.
