Celebrate Indigenous Peoples’ Day at TMA!
Feel the beat, hear the stories, and experience the vibrant traditions of Copper Face United, an intertribal Native American song and dance group returning to TMA for the third year. With five dancers, a singer, and an elder, Copper Face United brings to life a wide variety of songs and dances from across Native America. Catch them live at 11:30am and again at 2:30pm on the Glass Pavilion’s west lawn. Guests are welcome to drop in to the Glass Pavilion between 11:00am and 4:00pm to join artist Leonard D. Harmon for special live quill wrapping demonstrations – a traditional technique that transforms porcupine quills, moose hair, and other natural materials into striking decorative patterns. The completed work will later be available for purchase in the TMA Store. Families are also invited to explore the Family Center, where hands-on art activities inspired by Indigenous traditions will be available throughout the day.
These events are FREE and open to all.
