Cooking a Celtic Feast at 577 Foundation
On Friday, May 1, from 5:30 to 8:00 PM, adults ages 18 and up are invited to celebrate May Day—also known as the Celtic tradition of Beltane—with an evening of seasonal cooking and shared dining at Virginia’s House Kitchen. The class begins with a delicious communal meal featuring seared lamb with allium, fresh salads and berries, and bread with butter. Participants will then take part in a hands-on experience preparing a traditional oat bannock and will leave with a sweeter, modern version to share at home.
Throughout the evening, the class explores the cultural significance of traditional foods tied to Beltane, along with the history of this seasonal celebration and its revival over time. No prior cooking experience is required—participants are simply encouraged to come ready to enjoy, learn, and connect.
The fee is $65. Please note that some samples and recipes include milk and/or wheat. Parking is available in the house parking lot. Registration is available by phone at 419-874-4174 or online.
