GLASS CITY
RIVERwalk

The Glass City Riverwalk project will transform our riverfront with 300 acres of new and revitalized riverfront greenspace connected by five miles of multi-use trails spanning both sides of the Maumee River from Veteran’s Glass City Skyway to the Anthony Wayne Bridge.
Featuring fully accessible park elements, it will become a place for our community to connect with trails and green space reaching East Toledo, the Vistula neighborhood and the Warehouse and Central districts.
The transformation will restore more than 90 acres of industrial or vacant land to natural space by planting thousands of new trees, creating wetlands and other sustainable features. With waterfront access for boating and kayaking, a rock-climbing area, interactive water attractions, urban camping, and winter skating—Metroparks Toledo will help keep us active all year. The entire project is being constructed phase by phase and is scheduled to be complete in 2025.

Activating Toledo’s Vibrant Riverfront
Investing in public spaces allows residents the ability to gather and build life-long connections to each other and nature. More than 5 miles of new mixed-use trails and paths will connect communities on both sides of the river. Recent improvements in our downtown area are the catalyst for this project. By “connecting the dots” created by these projects, we will be able to enjoy all that our riverfront has to offer. A series of feature nodes will be highlighted throughout the Riverwalk. Some will incorporate a play feature, others art installations, but all will encourage interaction with the community.
Phase II Construction
The Glass City Riverwalk features fully accessible park elements that visitors can use during every season. A space that engages our community and draws visitors from across the region, the Glass City Metropark.
A new project website, gcrtoledo.com, provides a project overview, schedule and related documents.
