Toledo’s cultural scene is thriving. The area is enjoying a bit of a renaissance, particularly over the last decade, which is perhaps best exemplified by—but certainly not limited to—our revitalized downtown area. Anchored by the nationally ranked Fifth Third Field Minor League Ballpark, the popular Huntington Center arena and SeaGate Convention Centre, the downtown area is growing seemingly by the day, with new local establishments continually opening their doors for business.
Our area’s connection to the water is often a surprise to visitors. Our downtown riverfront offers scenic waterfront dining and entertainment options and provides an ideal connection to Lake Erie, for those who would rather be ON the water. A collection of smaller tributaries and creeks are accessible to visitors in the many vibrant Metroparks throughout Toledo and the surrounding suburbs. Plus, within a short drive is the nearby Lake Erie shores, which offers beaches, lighthouses and islands just waiting to be explored, as well as the famous Cedar Point amusement park.
The arts have always been an essential element of greater Toledo, as evidenced through our world-renowned Toledo Museum of Art, the beloved Toledo Symphony Orchestra and the area’s many other artistic endeavors.
Plus, the Toledo Zoo is another true jewel of the area, ranked as the #1 zoo in the nation, and home to an incredible 10,000 animals including some truly unique exhibits. Come meet Baru, the largest crocodile in the Northern Hemisphere, or see what it’s like to be on safari in the Africa! exhibit.
Add in our many outdoor recreational parks and sporting facilities, shopping at area malls and smaller boutiques, and the dozens of historical sites that tell the rich story of our area over time, and the challenge becomes deciding which of our area’s amazing amenities, attractions and activities that will simply have to wait until your NEXT trip to Toledo.
