NORTHWEST
OHIO

Northwest Ohio is a playground for road trippers. These destinations are well worth the drive, just pick a direction and get going.

Head East: Shores & Islands
The Marblehead Lighthouse welcomes guests to climb to the top and soak up the views, picnic along the waterfront and explore the historical maritime exhibits. For those looking for some island time, Put-n-Bay is a quaint yet vibrant village accessible by the Jet Express ferry. Savor fresh seafood, rent a golf cart or bike to explore its parks and monuments and delight in lively entertainment any time of day.
At The Ørchard on Catawba Island, enjoy an elevated experience with local artisan food, handcrafted cocktails and regional goods at its three concepts: Bar & Table, The Coop and the Farm Stand. Over in Sandusky, Cedar Point’s thrills earn it the title of “Roller Coaster Capital of the World,” but its sandy beach, exciting live shows and youngster-friendly rides make the park a perfect destination for all ages.
Head South: Bowling Green
A little further south is the charming city of Bowling Green, home to Bowling Green State University. Go back in time at Wood County Historical Museum. With over 50 acres of grounds to explore, guests can learn about the area’s rich and unusual history while also exploring the Lyle Fletcher Arboretum, walking trails and an archery range. Discover even more tranquility and natural beauty at Wintergarden Woods and St. John’s Nature Preserve.
Admire fine vehicular craftsmanship from yesteryear at Snook’s Dream Cars, where an eclectic collection of models from the ’30s through ’60s will transport you to way back when. And wrap up your BG adventure by grabbing a bite and a pint at Juniper Brewing Co. Great food, coffee and beer are never in short supply.
Head West: Sauder Village
Travel west through a time warp to Sauder Village, a playground of the past. This family-friendly historical campus offers immersive exhibitions like Natives & Newcomers, a pioneer settlement, and a 1920s Main Street. Visitors can also take a free train or buggy ride, meet horses at the livery and explore the old-fashioned bank, fire station, car dealership and barbershop.
Enjoy a hearty home-cooked meal under hand-hewn timbers from 1861 at the Barn Restaurant and follow it up with a fresh treat from Doughbox Bakery. Hunker down and stay the night at the Heritage Inn with an indoor pool and hot tub, or camp under the stars at its 87-site campground with a splash pad and fishing lake.
