Seed & Swap – A Day of Service

The Wild Ones Oak Openings Region Chapter invites the community to take part in a Seed & Swap event on Monday, January 19, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Olander Park’s Nederhouser Hall in Sylvania, Ohio. This hands-on, family-friendly gathering welcomes participants of all ages to help clean, package, and prepare native seeds collected for upcoming Seed Swap initiatives and Wild Ones conservation projects.

No prior experience is necessary, making this event an accessible and educational opportunity for gardeners, nature lovers, and anyone interested in supporting local ecosystems. Volunteers will learn about the importance of native plants while contributing directly to efforts that promote biodiversity throughout northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan.

Following the seed preparation activities, attendees are invited to relax and connect over a shared meal featuring homemade soup and bread, fostering a sense of community and collaboration. Hosted by Wild Ones Oak Openings Region Chapter—a local chapter of the national Wild Ones nonprofit—this event highlights the ecological significance of the Oak Openings Region, a globally threatened ecosystem known for its diverse habitats, migratory bird populations, and proximity to Lake Erie, the Maumee River, and the Great Black Swamp.
