About the Book
Before homeschooling became a nationwide movement, and shortly after it was legalized in Texas, Stefan Merrill Block disappeared from the public school system and into his mother’s increasingly eccentric theories and projects. After five years away from the outside world, he reentered public school in Plano as a freshman and faced a jarring return to society.
Both a portrait of a complicated mother-son relationship and a revealing look at an overlooked chapter in American education, Homeschooled is a moving, funny, and ultimately inspiring story about identity, independence, and the cost of unconditional love.
