Saturday and Sunday, June 18 - 19, 2022

A fun, safe, & creative space with Art, Live Music, Fashion, Activities, Film & Community Outreach!

Last year’s 2021 Juneteenth Celebration was wrapped around our unveiling of an historic marker dedicated to the Negro baseball leagues. We were truly pleased with the witnessing and direct participation of the cross-sections of our community.

That marker serves as the very first piece of the mission for the Public Art and History components of The African American Legacy Project.

Our intent is to expand this year’s Juneteenth celebration with a big emphasis on youth leadership while integrating the arts. We are proudly supporting young African American artists who want to showcase their artistic abilities through partnership with the AALP.

We have invited Ms. Lydia Myrick, under the tutelage of Mr. Yusuf Dubois Abdul Lateef, to curate Saturday’s event. “Heirs of Art “, A Black Arts Festival spearheaded by Ms. Myrick seeks to “ expose the artists and community to new and cool experiences safely.”

Incorporating art, music, fashion, activities, photography and community outreach, this festival will be open to people of all ages. We would like to expose the artists and the community to new, alternative, and cool experiences safely while giving a night to remember.

THE FREEDOM WALL

During this two day Juneteenth celebration, we invite members of the entire community visiting the African American Legacy Project to contribute messages of hope and inspiration to our proposed “ Freedom Wall.”
