DESCRIPTION:MODEL CON 419 BRINGS THE WORLD IN MINIATURE TO NW OHIO! \nThe second annual MODEL CON 419 welcomes plastic modelers from all over the Midwest to compete in a judged competition and to shop from a wide array of vendors on Saturday May 24. \nMODEL CON 419 is the only show of its kind in Northwest Ohio organized by IPMS/Fremont KitBashers and IPMS/Toledo Plastic Modelers chapters and is sanctioned by the International Plastic Modelers Society/USA. \nThe judged model contest will be divided into 57 categories\, with subjects ranging from Aircraft and Military Vehicles to Spacecraft and Dinosaurs. There are also Junior and Teens categories to allow younger modelers to compete. Trophies will be awarded for First\, Second\, and Third Places\, along with “Best Ofs” in each category; also\, 4 Special Awards will be given for particular subjects. \nOver 30 vendor tables will be loaded with a variety of model kits\, books\, tools and supplies at prices well below those of brick-and-mortar stores. In addition\, there will be an all-day raffle with even more kits and modeling supplies up for grabs. DESCRIPTION:The 2025 Memorial Day Ceremony on Saturday\, May 24\, will begin at 10:00 a.m. at the All Wars Memorial\, located off Jackson Street on the Civic Center Mall. The keynote address will be delivered by Brigadier General (Ret.) Christopher J. Dziubek\, U.S. Army. \nGeneral Dziubek retired on November 1\, 2023\, after 33 years of service\, including 17 years on active duty. He enlisted in the U.S. Army Reserve in 1986 with Bravo Battery\, 5/28th Field Artillery in Dayton\, Ohio. In 1989\, he was commissioned as a distinguished military graduate through ROTC and began active duty at Fort Rucker\, Alabama\, where he completed Aviation Officer Basic and Rotary Wing training. He later served as both an Aeroscout and Attack Helicopter Platoon Leader with the 1-101st Aviation Regiment at Fort Campbell\, Kentucky\, and completed the Armor Officer Advanced Course at Fort Knox. \nThe program also includes a wreath-laying ceremony and a special performance by the nationally recognized Springfield High School Junior ROTC and the Springfield High School Band.
