SUMMARY:Authors! with Alka Joshi
DESCRIPTION:About the Event\nInternational bestseller Alka Joshi joins Authors! to discuss her new release\, Six Days in Bombay. Acclaimed for her lush prose and her ability to weave intricate tales of ambition and cultural identity\, Joshi has redefined the historical fiction genre. Learn more about the inspirations behind her sprawling narratives and the meticulous research needed to bring mid-century Mumbai to life. \nAbout the Book\nIn Six Days in Bombay the year is 1958\, and the city is a swirling kaleidoscope of post-colonial glamour and simmering tension. The story follows the intersecting paths of three strangers; a disillusioned Bollywood starlet\, a young architect\, and street smart informant. Over the course of six days\, their lives collide as secrets from the past threaten to dismantle their futures. Each must decide if they are willing to burn down their old lives to build something in a new India. \nAbout the Author\nAlka Joshi is the New York Times bestselling author of the beloved Henna Artist trilogy\, which has been translated into over twenty languages and is currently being adapted for television. Born in Jodhpur\, India\, Joshi draws deeply from her heritage to create stories that bridge the gap between East and West. Before her literary debut at age sixty-two\, she spent decades running her own advertising and marketing agency. Today\, she is celebrated as a master of “period-perfect” atmosphere and a champion of resilient women. She currently resides in California\, where she is hard at work on her next evocative journey into the past. \nFAQs:\nDo tickets include a copy of the book?
