The Merry-Go-Round Museum is excited to host its second annual “5K Carousel Challenge\,” a one-of-a-kind racing event where participants will complete a full 5K—without taking a single step!\nRiders will hop on the museum’s historic carousel and spin their way to victory in this whimsical endurance event. The challenge? Staying in the saddle for the full 5 kilometers of continuous motion!\n Date: July 26\, 2025\n Start Times: 12 PM\, 1 PM\, 2 PM\, 3 PM\, & 4 PM\n Entry Fee for 5K: $25 per rider\nFor younger riders\, we’re also hosting a special “3K Carousel Cruise” just for kids (ages 6-14)\, with start times at 11:00 AM and 11:30 AM.\n Entry Fee for 3K: $15 per rider (ages 6-14)\n Event registration includes museum admission on the day of the event.\nThis is a fun and unique way to experience the magic of our carousel while also testing your endurance—no running required! DESCRIPTION:The National Museum of the Great Lakes invites guests to experience the museum in a calm\, accommodating setting during its Sensory Friendly Weekends\, thoughtfully designed for comfort and enjoyment. \nHeld on the second Saturday and Sunday of every month\, this dedicated experience takes place one hour before the museum opens to the public. \nAdmission is included with regular museum entry and is free for members and Museums for All participants. \nCreated especially for individuals with sensory sensitivities\, this designated time offers a more immersive and comfortable visit: \n\nCrowds are limited to ensure a peaceful\, relaxed environment\nLighting is dimmed to create a calming atmosphere\nExhibit sounds are lowered or eliminated to reduce auditory stimulation\n\nAs a Certified Autism Center™ (CAC) through the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Services (IBCCES)\, the museum is committed to providing inclusive\, accessible experiences for all visitors. \nGuests are encouraged to pre-order tickets in advance or purchase them at the door upon arrival.
