DESCRIPTION:The hills will be alive with the Sound of Music on April 3 at the 1920s Theatre as Sauder Village plays host to Ohio Goes to the Movies part of America 250 Ohio celebrations. \nOhio Goes to the Movies™ (OGTTM) is a statewide celebration of movies showcasing Ohio’s contributions to America’s film industry and moviemaking. A Signature Event of America 250-Ohio\, OGTTM will start mid-February 2026 and run through October 2026 – about 250 days involving all of the state’s 88 counties. Details are at OhioGoestotheMovies.org. \nSauder Village is proud to host this FREE screening of the Sound of Music featuring Ohio’s own Eleanor Parker as the Baroness.  Enjoy preshow snacks or take a picture in our photo booth.  Enjoy a sip from our cash bar.  We will have trivia\, prizes and more in addition to the movie.  Doors open at 5:45 for you to get a snack or ice cream at the Soda Fountain or a drink at our Speakeasy before the movie starts at 6:30 \nShow your ticket on your phone or printed off and get a free nonalcoholic drink at the Barn Restaurant on April 3! \nThis fun family-friendly event is free to all.  RSVPs are required – Register on the Sauder Village website

She will also share her experience attending the Hollywood premiere and offer insight into the history behind the original book\, written by Mildred Wirt Benson. Attendees are encouraged to read the revised 20 chapter edition of The Hidden Staircase before the program. \nMovie Summary:After the death of his wife\, Carson Drew moves from Chicago to River Heights with his daughter\, Nancy. Bored with small town life\, sixteen year old Nancy soon finds the adventure she has been craving when she is asked to investigate strange happenings at the Twin Elms mansion. Can she solve the mystery of the creaking footsteps\, exploding light bulbs\, and the mysterious creature? \nThis event is sponsored by the Ohioana Library and Ohio Goes to the Movies as part of a statewide film festival celebrating America 250.

After the film\, several Troopers will take part in a short panel discussion\, offering personal insight into the team’s legacy and its impact on women’s sports and Toledo history. \nThe Troopers played their first professional women’s football game in 1971 and won seven world championships between 1971 and 1979. In 1983\, they were recognized as the winningest team in professional football history at the Pro Football Hall of Fame. In 2014\, they became the first team inducted into the Women’s Football Foundation Hall of Fame. \nWednesday\, March 45:30 p.m. \nWe Are the Troopers was released On Demand on January 16\, 2026\, and is available on major streaming platforms\, including hoopla\, which is free with a Toledo Lucas County Public Library card. \nThe event is part of a statewide America 250 film festival sponsored by the Ohioana Library and Ohio Goes to the Movies.
